How to connect your domain to Domainote
Domainote initially uses managed DNS through a nameserver change. You retain domain ownership. Changing NS and MX can affect existing websites and email, so migrate records and plan the switch first.
1. Check your account and existing services
Registration is invitation-only. Contact support through the homepage to agree on a plan. An administrator provides a single-use invitation bound to your email, valid for 7 days. Register and verify using that address.
Prepare your domain and registrar access. Record the existing nameservers and back up all DNS records. Identify the records used by your website, subdomains, third-party verification and email. The platform domain domainote.app cannot be connected as a customer domain.
2. Add your domain and migrate DNS
Add the domain from the workspace Domains page, or paste a list for batch setup. Use the status and nameservers shown for your domain rather than copying another domain’s NS or MX values.
Before changing nameservers, migrate website A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT and other required records. Plan an existing mailbox’s MX switch separately: MX changes the destination of new mail and does not migrate historical messages.
3. Update nameservers and check status
At your registrar, replace the nameservers with the values shown in setup, then allow DNS to propagate. Return to Domainote and check status, following the displayed DNS and receiving instructions. Active nameservers allow receiving to be configured automatically.
Timing depends on your registrar, DNS caching and propagation. If setup remains pending, compare the registrar’s saved nameservers with the setup page and check domain status. Avoid repeatedly switching between providers.
4. Test delivery from an external inbox
From an external account you control, send messages to two new prefixes, such as hello@your-domain.com and read@your-domain.com. Verify delivery, bodies, attachments and recipient filters in the workspace.
Also verify your website and subdomains. For missing mail, check domain setup, MX, sender filters and your monthly message allowance. Keep any bounce message to help support investigate.
