What is a catch-all domain email inbox?
Catch-all receiving collects messages sent to different address prefixes on a connected domain. With Domainote, you do not have to create hello@, billing@ or each new prefix first. You must own and connect the domain.
One domain, addresses for different purposes
Use project@your-domain.com for a project and read@your-domain.com for newsletters. Mail arrives in one workspace, with filters for domains and recipients and search for subjects and senders.
These are not separate mailbox accounts with individual passwords. They are recipient addresses within one account. Domainote cannot read existing Gmail, Outlook or other providers’ accounts.
How does this differ from forwarding?
Forwarding usually delivers mail to another mailbox. Domainote provides a web inbox that stores message bodies and attachments and supports read-only inbox sharing. Each address does not need to forward to a personal inbox.
The current release receives mail only. Sending and replies are unavailable, and historical messages at another provider are not migrated automatically. Check your requirements before switching an existing mailbox.
Any prefix does not mean unlimited messages
Plans are measured by connected domains and incoming messages per month, not address prefixes. Starter includes 1 domain and 200 messages/month; Standard includes 3 domains and 1,000 messages/month; Pro includes 10 domains and 5,000 messages/month. Enterprise allowances are agreed with support.
Messages count per Beijing (UTC+8) calendar month. Deletion does not refund the allowance. At the limit, new messages are rejected until the next month or an upgrade; existing mail is retained.
Managing unwanted mail
Catch-all can also receive messages sent to misspelled or arbitrary prefixes. An allowlist limits accepted sender domains. A blocklist stops future messages from specified senders, domains and their subdomains.
Archiving an address organizes it without stopping delivery. Before switching, migrate your DNS records and plan the MX change to protect existing website and email services.
